Growing up I was always surrounded by music (having band directors for both of your parents it's practically inevitable), it has always been something that has felt natural and enjoyable for me. I've played in a wide range of ensembles from jazz combos to full orchestras, playing anything from woodwinds, brass, percussion, strings and even some singing early on. I got my start writing music by "pushing buttons" on my parents' copy of Finale at an early age. This lead to writing arrangements for my high school marching band which I continued into college, as well as transcribing some piano works for large ensembles. My first performed original work, "Suddenly the Lighted Living Hills" was performed by the UTSA Wind Ensemble as a result of a student composition contest. From then I've continued to arrange and write original works for various ensembles. Though writing remains a hobby of mine, my greatest passion is teaching. I began my teaching journey as a marching technician, as well as teaching private lessons and masterclasses. I am currently studying for my Bachelors degree in music education at the University of Texas at San Antonio and I hope to continue my journey as an educator after graduating and earning my certification in EC-12 Music.
