This piece is written for flutist Jordan Rodriguez to honor her late father

Joe Angel Rodriguez (May 29, 1962 - December 14, 2020)

As such, the two instruments are utilized symbolically as a father and daughter, the alto flute as the daughter and the bass flute as the father. The form of the piece also follows a timeline from first conversations, life lessons, and life on your own after a loved one has passed. The two most important  aspects of the music are the use of Amazing Grace as it was a favorite hymn of his and one the two would sing together often, and the key of D major as it is the key which feels like "home" to Jordan. The piece ends with both flutes playing either "D A D" or "D A D A" as Dada was a nickname for Joe used affectionately by his family.
